Two quaint towns situated at the Costa de la Luz, Conil and Tarifa, offer a slightly different stay with their beautiful beaches and splendid panorama.

Conil

The village of Conil de la Frontera is gaining popularity as a tourist resort with low rise buildings despite being a fishing village previously, which gives it a serene and slow-paced living atmosphere. It offers lovely sandy beaches and a vibrant nightlife with local Spanish flavor as both locals and tourists enjoy the fresh catch of seafood in restaurants near the beach front.

The main delicacy offering here is a small type of white prawn, locally known as gamba blanca, which has an excellent flavor albeit being pricier than other fares. Tuna lovers will be pleased with the fresh catch in June when this ocean delight is offered at tempting prices.

Accommodation

There is a reasonable accommodation price in the town for a 4-star quality stay known as the Hotel Husa Conil Park. It is located close to Conil's beach, offering delightful sea views as well as a splendid outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace. It has a wholesome and enjoyable buffet breakfast offering. This hotel has pine trees all around as it overlooks the lovely Conil beach. The Andalusia sunshine makes a lovely companion at the hotel’s pool as well. Its offering of a 2,000 m² garden will allow its guests a good stroll while enjoying the sun and natural beauty all around.

Alternatively, there is the Hotel cum Apartment, Loto Conil, which is situated in the town, but still close to the beach, at a kilometer’s walk away. It boasts an outdoor pool and an offering of free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, as well as air conditioning.

Tarifa

Tarifa is known as Europe’s wind capital for its famous constant supply of wind. Many wind farms have been set up to take advantage of the natural offering in addition to the wide selection of wind sports and activities that one can enjoy.

The bay is constantly filled with the colorful sight of wind surfing or kite flying on the coastline. Located at the most southern point of Spain, this town is at the place where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. It is also very close to Gibraltar and Africa allowing it to offer fishing trips and boat rides around these regions. Whale sighting is also very common near the shoreline along the straits of Gibraltar since they look for food in that region.

The Hotel La Torre was a unique country house that has been converted into a classic hotel, as beautiful as the surrounding panorama. Its view of the lovely park of Los Alcornocales makes your stay there close to nature with its offering of spacious and comfortable rooms.

You can also enjoy sunbathing behind it and without the strong winds.

A more typical Andalusia stay would be the Posada Vagamunods, situated in the town itself. This hotel was an 18th century old building; site is worth exploring along with the historical town of Tarifa, which offers an old quarter for your slow-paced discovery.
